Dundee Dog Auction

The 5th annual RMA Network Working Stock Dog Auction was conducted in Dundee on November 18 and 19.

A RECORD sale high of $10,000 was achieved; 32 of 36 dogs sold for a clearance of 88 per cent, an average of $3970.

Agent Shad Bailey, Colin Say and Company, Glen Innes, said there was strong bidding from all Australian states, with dogs selling to Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, Queensland and NSW.

Peterson Wizard, a dog bred and trained by Peter Hogan, Glencoe, reached the top price after winning the sheep vendor trial and the open sheep yard final.

The four-year-old fully trained black and tan Kelpie, by Barru Merlin from Coogee River, was sold to Nigel Kerin, Yeoval.

Tyler Hodgman, Pinkett, sold HP Flex, 23-month-old black and white Border Collie, for $7500.

The son of FL Scrap ad Dora, sold to Ian and Gail Ellis, "Rosedale", Pinkett.

Repeat vendor Sam Gates, Uralla, sold Kanika Burl, a 1.5-year-old son of Kanika Ben and Backenbark Madonna, for $6700.

The black and tan Kelpie was bought by Southwest Livestock, Griffith.

Warrnambool Ag, Grassmere, Victoria, purchased Gwydir Gemma, a daughter of Saltpan Grompy and Bowraville Crimp, for $6250.

The 19-month-old black and tan Kelpie was bred and trained by Tony Overton, Walcha.

Yamba's Brooke Anderson sold black and tan Kelpie Pepsi for $6000 to Fenella Neilsen, Tolmie Creek Station, Blackwater, Queensland. 

The rising three-year-old was a daughter of Hank and Coke and was fully trained. 

Two dogs, Pearces Murtel and Peterson Barry sold for $5250, offered by Jason Cooper, Mungindi, and Clint Stephens, Warren.

The sale came at the end of two days of vendor and open trials, as well as demonstrations of the sale dogs. 

In the vendor trials, the cattle competition was won by Zac Ede, Scone, with his 18-month-old Kelpie bitch Wootton Roxy, who sold for $4750.

Stan Hughes, Yarranlea, Queensland, was second with three-year-old Border Collie bitch Husanley Olive, who made $3500, and Shane Anderson's 22-month-old Border Collie dog Bundy, was third and made $2400 at auction.

Peterson Wizard won the sheep vendor trial from Stuart Williamson, Armidale, and his rising three-year-old black Kelpie bitch Amos Megastar, who went on to make $4250.

Jason Cooper's Kelpie bitch Pearces Murtel was third. 

The sale was conducted by Colin Say and Co, Glen Innes, with fellow RMA agent Robbie Bloch, C.L. Squires and Co, Inverell, taking the bids.
